I was there for a wedding. The atmosphere was nice, and the prime rib was very tasty. The bar wasn't stocked very well. The wedding was a cash bar, so I expected the restaurant to have a stocked bar so they could make more money. Unfortunately, they only had a couple of liquor choices, and all bottled beers were $5. Even Miller/Bud light. That's a bit steep for a cheap beer. The building was cool and the staff were friendly. Overall, the place was cool. Wished the bar was stocked better.

Was in town for the weekend and after reading the reviews we decided on this place. Boy was that a bad idea. We could not find a host upon walking in and were left to wonder the nearly empty restaurant until we found someone. We were directed to the "outdoor seating" area and upon sitting down we found out you had to order at the bar inside. When we got to the bar the hosts and bartenders ignored us as we stood in front of the bar as they argued over who got to go home early because they made more money that day. After about 5 minutes we finally interrupted them to order and they made it clear they did not want to deal with us. If it had not been for the wasted time I would have left. The food was far from good and the service absolutely awful. Of all the restaurants I have reviewed this was in the top 5 worst experiences. Will not return.

We are getting married here, so this is a wedding planning and event review: amazing. The ambiance is legendary, as is the food and beer. We mostly work with Brooke, and sometimes Paige, and they are professional, fun, easy to talk with, eager, and know their stuff. Price is good, but you know, weddings...but everyone is excited for wurst, pretzels, and more! The food is killer, the space excellent, the history sublime, and you even get coat check coffee! A fantastic event location with a fan staff that make every visit exceptional.

My fiancé and I visited this restaurant while away from Iowa. Very fun atmosphere! We enjoyed the complimentary pretzel and dipping sauces. Chloe was very friendly and the service was perfectly timed. We loved our cocktail and German beer. Will visit again if ever in Indy again!

Only reason it gets 3 stars is the incredible draft and bottle selection of German beer. Otherwise I would be tempted to give it 1. The food there used to be a place my German family loved to go to, the food was authentic and all. New Management has taken over. His name is Dave or Dan or something. He isn't interested in upholding the heritage, integrity or quality of the restaurant. Truly sad, this used to be a fantastic hub for German families to gather. Now it makes a mockery of the culture. Not even Dan can screw up the beer though!
